asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will make a statement on the latest stepping up of the EEC multi-annual research programme.

Mr. Varley

The Commission has recently made various proposals to the Council relating to the four-year EURATOM research programme agreed early in 1973. These would involve increases in the financial provision for research, and are being studied.
