HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 cc388-9W
Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what is the number and value of the capital projects she has had to defer at the East Birmingham Hospital because of the cuts made by the previous administration in December 1973;

(2) what is the number and value of the capital projects she has had to defer within the Birmingham Area Health Authority's jurisdiction because of the cuts made by the previous administration in December 1973;

(3) what is the number and value of the capital projects she has had to defer because of the cuts made by the previous administration in December 1973.

Dr. Owen

Capital programmes are expressed as the value of work to be done in a year, and factors other than the cuts affect the number of schemes which can be undertaken within a programme—that is, inflation or planning delays: I regret it is not possible, therefore, to isolate the effects of the cuts on the number of schemes which will proceed in 1974–75.
