HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 c29W
34. Sir G. Sinclair

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what steps he has taken in relation to the number of night jet flights at Gatwick for the tourist season for 1975.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The matter is at present under active consideration following the recent completion of arrangements for the imposition of night jet restrictions in the coming winter months.

Mr. Russell Kerr

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether any decision has yet been taken to extend summer restrictions on night jet movements at Heathrow and Gatwick to include the winter months.

Mr. Clinton Davis

I have decided to introduce night jet restrictions at Heathrow and Gatwick in the coming winter months. The period will be defined as 1st November to 31st March inclusive between 23.30–06.30 hours Monday to Saturday with an extension to 08.00 hours on Sunday mornings. During that period the number of movements, take-offs and landings combined by jet aircraft will not exceed 2,600 at Heathrow and 2,300 at Gatwick.
