§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of insured persons who changed their job during the last year for which figures are available; and if he will give as a 75W percentage the number of jobs filled through the Employment Services Agency and, if available, the number filled through private employment agencies.
§ Mr. John FraserAccurate information is not available but it is estimated that there were approximately 10 million engagements of adults by employers in 1973 when the employment service recorded 1.64 million adult vacancies filled. Comparable information about the activities of private employment agencies is not available.
§ Miss Richardsonasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he is now in a position to make a statement about the plans of the Employment Service Agency to introduce a computer-assisted placing service in the Department of Employment's offices.
§ Mr. John FraserAfter careful examination of the feasibility of introducing a computer-assisted placing system, the Employment Service Agency has decided to implement a pilot scheme in a number of offices in north-east London. A contract for the provision of computer services and facilities for the development of the pilot system has now been awarded by the Central Computer Agency to Honeywell Information Systems Limited. It is hoped that the system will be operational during the latter part of 1975.
