§ Mr. Huntasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to receive draft traffic regulation orders from the Greater London Council specifying through routes for heavy lorries under the provisions of the Heavy Commercial Vehicles (Controls and Regulations) Act 1973.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThe Greater London Council has the power to make traffic regulation orders designating lorry routes under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1967. The heavy Commercial Vehicles (Controls and Regulations) Act 1973 extended this power to all other local authorities in England and Wales, and required them to publish draft orders by 1st January 1977. There is no such requirement on the GLC under either Act, but it is proceeding as if the timescale of the 1973 Act did apply to it. I expect it will be some time before it formulates proposals for designated routes.
§ Mr. Huntasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what reply he has sent to the representations he has received from Age Concern and other organisations regarding the proposed arrangements for calculating rent and rate rebates following the pension increases of 22nd July.
§ Mr. FreesonI am sending the hon. Member a copy of the replies sent to Age Concern.
