asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of gross national product is controlled by the State.

Table 13 of the 1973 National Income and Expenditure Blue Book gives estimates of the factor incomes generated in the public corporations, central Government and local authority sectors. In 1972 for the public sector as a whole these represented about 28 per cent. of gross domestic product.
