Mr. David Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will specify the items of public expenditure which it was proposed should be postponed in the cuts of December 1973 but which the Government have subsequently decided should go ahead; and what he estimates to the their cost to the Exchequer.

The only item of cut expenditure which has been reinstated is Post Office telecommunications investment totally £28 million—see the reply of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Industry on 1st July to the hon. Member for South Angus (Mr. Bruce-Gardyne).—[Vol. 876, c. 18.]
