§ Mr. Bodyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) whether any grants, subsidies or indirect financial aids are given to producers of eggs or poultry meat in Italy which are not available to similar producers in the United Kingdom;
(2) whether any grants, subsidies or indirect financial aids are given to producers of eggs or poultry meat in France which are not available to similar producers in the United Kingdom;
(3) whether any grants, subsidies or indirect financial aids are given to producers of eggs or poultry meat in Denmark which are not available to similar producers in the United Kingdom;
(4) whether any grants, subsidies or indirect financial aids are given to producers of eggs or poultry meat in Western Germany which are not available to similar producers in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. PeartI am not aware of any direct grant or subsidies given by these member States to egg or poultry producers. Until a decision has been taken by the Council in accordance with Article 9(3) of EEC Directive 72/159 no aid may be paid by member States towards investment in egg and poultry production. Like the United Kingdom, and according to their individual needs and circumstances, member States provide some general assistance, for instance to encourage cooperation and for stock improvement and poultry health measures.
