HC Deb 09 July 1974 vol 876 c413W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will state the proportion of unemployed persons in England, Scotland, Wales and Gwynedd, respectively, who are under 20 years of age.

Mr. John Fraser

Statistics of unemployed people aged under 20 are normally compiled for January and July each year. Because of the emergency situation, however, the figures were not collected in January this year and the most recent statistics are for July 1973. Following is the available information:

Unemployed aged under 20 as a percentage of all unemployed: July 1973
(per cent.)
England 11.7
Scotland 15.7
Wales 12.9
Gwynedd 9.9
