§ Mr. Ian Lloydasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied that the production of BCM gas used in the manufacture of vinyl chloride by the Vinatex Plastic Factory, New Lane, Havant, presents no health hazards to people living in the immediate vicinity of the plant.
§ Mr. OakesThese works are concerned with the processing of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Traces of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) entrained in this PVC are released during the processing but I am advised that the Chief Alkali and Clean Air Inspector does not consider that the works present any recognisable hazards to the health of persons living in the immediate vicinity.
