§ Mr. Moneyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many pictures and works of art from public collections are currently on loan to Her Majesty's Embassies and high commissions overseas; and whether he will publish a list of present loans and of their duration.
§ Mr. Hugh Jenkins26 works are on loan to Her Majesty's Embassies from the national collections, 18 from the Tate Gallery and eight from the National Portrait Gallery, none to high commissions. The loans are usually for five-year periods or related to the term of the appointment of the head of mission but may be extended as appropriate. In present day circumstances it would not be desirable to publish a detailed list.
