§ Mr. ArmstrongLast December the new local education authorities were asked to consider with the then existing authorities whether the instruments of management and government of their county schools would need amendment because of local government reorganisation. No further guidance has been issued, but the new authorities will be aware of the constitution of managing and governing bodies.
§ Mr. Terry Walkerasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he is satisfied with the response by local education authorities to circulars from his Department on the appointment of school managers and governors; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ArmstrongMy right hon. Friend is not aware of any reason for dissatisfaction on his part with the way local education authorities carry out their responsibilities under the Education Acts for the appointment of school managers and governors. If my hon. Friend has any particular case in mind he may like to write to my right hon. Friend about it.
