§ Mr. John FraserIn June 1961 the estimated number of male employees in employment in Wales was 672,000 and the estimate for the United Kingdom was 14,661,000. For June 1971 the figures were 603,000 and 13,835,000 respectively.

The variation of employee activity rates between regions takes no account of the sell employed, the armed forces and the retired. The dispersion of activity rates between regions is markedly reduced if these are included.
3. The previous method of calculating annual activity rates has been discontinued and activity rates are now determined using only data from the Censuses of Population. Consequently annual rates are no longer published.
