HC Deb 24 January 1974 vol 867 c327W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he is prepared to recommend, as a result of his study of the Parliamentary Commissioner's report on the new runway and terminal buildings at Edinburgh (Turnhouse) Airport, that the airport be classified as a designated airport to allow grants for soundproofing to adjacent properties.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

The major realignment of the runway at Edinburgh Airport to which the report refers is not likely to come into use before the spring of 1976. I will, in the meantime, give careful consideration with all concerned to the question of designation of the airport under Section 29 of the Civil Aviation Act 1971 and of any noise insulation arrangements.
