asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what compensation he will pay Mr. R. Scott of 483 Swanage Road, Wandsworth, London, S.W. 18, in respect of the damage to his commercial vehicle on 18th December 1973, at Marsham Street, London, S.W.1.

Compensation is not in general paid from public funds for damage to property caused by crime. I have written to the hon. Member.
