asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if any further works of art have recently been accepted in lieu of estate duty.

Yes ; seven marble portrait sculptures by Giovanni Battista Foggini have been accepted. The total cost borne by the National Land Fund, after allowing for relief from estate duty and capital gains tax, is £40,000.

The Minister for the Arts, after taking advice from the Standing Commission net take-home pay in October 1970 and in each subsequent October ; what were his gross earnings, tax and national insurance deductions, loss of purchasing power due to price inflation since October 1970, and his real disposable income at October 1970 prices, assuming he was married with two children under 11 years of age and paid not-contracted-out insurance contributions.
