HC Deb 04 February 1974 vol 868 c209W
38. Mr. Hooson

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will give a general direction to the Post Office to clear post boxes on main roads twice a day, despite the emergency, in view of the fact that evening collections can be arranged from post boxes on main roads without any additional consumption of petrol.

Sir J. Eden

No. The Post Office tells me that it cannot arrange evening collections from post boxes on main roads, or elsewhere, without using more fuel.
