HC Deb 04 February 1974 vol 868 cc209-10W
39. Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications how much money has been spent on research and development on telecommunications over each of the past four years; and what are the estimated figures for the next four years.

Sir J. Eden

As its annual report and accounts show, the telecommunications research and development expenditure by the Post Office for the past four years was:

£ million
1969–70 11.6
1970–71 11.9
1971–72 17.1
1972–73 19.0

The estimates for the future are a matter for the Post Office.
