§ Mr. William RossAt 31st December 1973 there were 7,393 mentally handicapped patients over the age of 15 in hospitals, and 6,826 under the guardianship or voluntary care of local authorities. There were 71 occupation centres for mentally handicapped adults, but the average age of those attending the centres is not available.
