asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many places there are in local authority maintained homes for the elderly per 1,000 population, aged 65 years and over in each county and in Scotland as a whole;

(2) how many local authority maintained homes there are for the elderly in each county and in Scotland as a whole.

The numbers of homes and beds provided by each local authority are given in "Scottish Social Work Statistics 1972".
