HC Deb 10 December 1974 vol 883 cc138-41W
Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what action he is taking to encourage airlines to reduce their consumption of energy.

Mr. Clinton Davis

With the substantial rise over the last 12 months in the price of aviation fuel, the airlines themselves are acutely aware of the need to minimise its use. In the international sphere, it is and will remain the Government's aim to work for the rationalisation of capacity, through agreements between Governments and airlines, in order to reduce the number of empty seats and lead to more efficient use of fuel.
