§ Mr. OakesAn examination in public on structure plans has replaced a public inquiry based on the hearing of objections. The examination is designed to investigate matters selected by the Secretary of State. Invitations to participate follow from the selection of matters for examination and the contribution that participants might make to the discussion. The list of those invited to participate658W at the examination in public on the Leicester and Leicestershire structure plan is long, and I am sending it to the hon. Member, together with a list of those who have written to the Secretary of State about the plan but have not been invited to participate. The criteria for the selection of matters and participants are set out in the code of practice, which I am also sending to the hon. Member.
