asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether in respect of the concrete road surface of the M5 motorway bypassing Taunton he considers that the specification is satisfactory, but that the contractors have failed to meet the specification satisfactorily, or that the surface of this section of motorway is satisfactory.

Small areas of the initial surface texture were unsatisfactory and remedial works have had to be carried out. The surface now complies with the Department's specification and is considered to be satisfactory.
