HC Deb 03 December 1974 vol 882 c411W
Mr. Tom Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the average earnings of male manual workers and non-manual workers in Wales in 1973.

Mr. Booth

On the basis of the 1973 New Earnings Survey it is estimated that the average gross weekly earnings in April 1973 of full-time men, aged 21 or over, who were employed in Wales and whose pay for the survey reference period was not affected by absence, were:

Manual men £38.70
Non-Manual men £45.00

These estimates are subject to sampling errors and are given to the nearest l0p.
