asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the employee activity rate for males and females, respectively, for Wales and for the United Kingdom at the most recent convenient date.

Mr. Booth

Employee activity rates for Wales from the 1966 Census of Population are 72.9 for males and 31.3 for females. Corresponding figures for the United Kingdom are 77.6 and 40.3 respectively. Activity rates from the 1971 census relating to employees will be available next year.
