§ Dr. Edmund Marshallasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what is the present annual cost of providing concessionary television licences to certain retirement pensioners in England and Wales;
(2) how many retirement pensioners in England and Wales now hold concessionary television licences.
§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonAt 30th September there were 190,000 people in England and Wales licensed to receive television in old persons' homes at the rate of 5p per person. If all these pensioners were covered by licences at the full rate the annual licence revenue would be about £1 million higher.
