358Waverage increase was about 15½ per cent. The present ranges of salary for chief constables are given below. Deputy chief constables and assistant chief constables receive 75 per cent. and 65 per cent. respectively of the chief constable's salary. Threshold payments and a London allowance of £201 are payable in addition.
