§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement about the exceptions to generalised preferences made by Japan against Hong Kong's exports to that country.
§ Mr. EnnalsThe Japanese Government have reduced the number of exceptions from their generalised preferences scheme for Hong Kong to six items from 1st April this year, compared with 96 items when Hong Kong was originally included in 1972 and with 12 from June 1973. While we welcome this latest move, we shall continue to urge the 381W Japanese Government to eliminate the remaining exceptions.
