HC Deb 10 April 1974 vol 872 cc219-20W
Mrs. Kellett-Bowman

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in view of the rise in the cost of motor fuel and of other motoring expenses, if he will propose to grant tax concessions to members of the public who are at present unable to claim any reimbursement or offset their transport expenses but who are obliged, due to lack of public transport or other reasons beyond their control, to use their own vehicles in order to get to or pursue their employment.

Dr. Gilbert

I do not think it would be justifiable to single out this particular form of personal expenditure for tax relief.
