HL Deb 10 April 1974 vol 350 cc1359-60WA
LORD TREFGARNE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state the fuel allocation arrangements for each of the following operators, both British and foreign, using United Kingdom Airfields, namely:

  • Private owners;
  • Corporate owners;
  • Air Taxis;

Charter operators (both cargo and passenger)

Scheduled operators (both cargo and passenger).

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, The Secretary of State for Energy announced on March 21 that restrictions on the supply of all oil fuel other than motor spirit and aviation gasoline would be suspended from that day. The allocation of aviation kerosene has therefore been discontinued, and aviation gasoline is being allocated on the basis of 90 per cent. of the quantity of fuel delivered in the corresponding period of 1971.

The additional voluntary restrictions on private and business flying have now been lifted, and I would like to thank the representative associations for their forbearance and co-operation.

LORD TREFGARNE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state which categories of aircraft operators using United Kingdom airfields are exempt from the fuel allocation arrangements.

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, since March 21 restrictions on the supply of all oil fuel other than motor spirit and aviation gasoline have been suspended. No airline operators who use aviation gasoline are exempt from the arrangements but, where necessary, supplementary allocations have been granted to those operators engaged in priority operations such as North Sea oil exploration, air ambulance work or Highlands and Islands services.
