HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 c53W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will set up special hospital units for elderly people injured in falls in the Nottinghamshire areas as recommended to her by the Medical Committee of the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board.

Dr. Owen

The recommendation to which the hon. Member refers was made to and accepted by the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board in September 1973. A unit to provide treatment for elderly people injured in falls has been set up at the Basford Hospital, Nottingham. The Trent Regional Health Authority, as the successor authority, has under active consideration the establishment of similar units in other hospitals in Nottinghamshire and elsewhere in the region.
