HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 c36W
Mr. Raymond Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he can now announce the future location of the Countryside Commission.

Mr. Crosland

The Countryside Commission has to vacate part of its present premises later this year and it has been seeking a suitable location outside London. It has chosen premises at Cheltenham, which is conveniently located for its operations throughout England and Wales. It has also established a small office at Newtown in Wales. Arrangements for the move to Cheltenham are not yet complete but it is hoped that it will take place in the latter half of this year.
