HC Deb 03 April 1974 vol 871 c391W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will set out in tabular form the number of men enrolling at Government training centres in each of the last three years for skills in the construction industry; what proportion successfully completed the course; and what are the equivalent figures for the longest period in 1974 for which information is available.

Mr. Foot

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the information available is as follows:

TRAINING SERVICES AGENCY SKILLCENTRES—CONSTRUCTION TRAINING
Starts and Completions
1971 1972 1973
Starts 4,736 6,135 7,330
Completions 3,203 4,174 5,026

The figures relate to the numbers of starts and completions of training during each calendar year. Most courses last for six months and some trainees will start training in one year and complete it in the next. Information for 1974 is not yet available.
