§ Mr. Clemitsonasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will give details of the assurances which have been given to him by the Japanese ball-bearing company which proposes to build a factory at Peterlee in County Durham, particularly in regard to the type of bearings to be manufactured and the British manufactured content of the beatings to be produced.
§ Mr. HefferThe assurances which the Japanese company is prepared to give about the manner in which it proposes to operate here are not finally agreed. 1 can say, however, that the plan is to manufacture ball hearings of an internal diameter of 10mm to 25mm, while in general the company will seek to maximise the United Kingdom content of the product.
