HC Deb 25 October 1973 vol 861 cc602-3W
Mr. John Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what action he is taking to resolve the dispute involving industrial action within the Post Office over the position of Post Office workers in relation to the anomalies criteria under phase 3 of the Government's counter-inflation policy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chichester-Clark

The present industrial action does not arise from a dispute between the Post Office and the unions concerned. In these circumstances there is no scope for conciliation. As part of the continuing consultative process, my right hon. Friend saw leaders of the trade unions concerned yesterday: their representations will be taken fully into account, along with all the other views which have been received, when the Government finalise their proposals for stage 3.
