HC Deb 25 October 1973 vol 861 cc621-2W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services which authority under the National Health Service Reorganisation Act will be responsible for coping with the health hazards arising from the rush hour overcrowding of the Bakerloo Line; what policies are being pursued in connection with this problem by his Department; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

Questions of health hazards alleged to arise from overcrowding on the Underground are primarily for my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment. So far as the need arises for services under the National Health Service Acts, operational responsibility will rest with the appropriate area health authorities.
