(4) how many convictions there were in the Metropolitan Police area during the past five years for running a brothel; and what was the period of imprisonment or amount of fine imposed in each case.

§ Mr. CarlisleThe maximum sentence for this offence, under the Sexual Offences Acts of 1956 (as amended) and 1967, is seven years' imprisonment on conviction on indictment. It is not possible, on the basis of the criminal statistics as they are at present collected, to answer the second part of the Question except at disproportionate cost. The following table shows the number of occasions in the last 10 years on which sentences of more than five years have been imposed for this offence.
