asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what is the present percentage rate of unemployment for males and females registered at the Sutton employment exchange; and what were the comparable figures for each of the previous 24 months;

(2) what is the average percentage rate of unemployment for males and females registered at employment exchanges in Greater London; and what were the comparable figures for each of the previous 24 months;

(3) what is the average percentage rate of unemployment for males and females in England and Wales; and what were the comparable figures for each of the previous 24 months;

(4) how many males and females registered as unemployed at the Sutton employment exchange at the latest available date were over 55 years of age and under 18 years of age, respectively; and what were the comparable figures for each of the previous 18 months;

(5) how many males and females were registered as unemployed at the Sutton employment exchange at the latest available date; and what was the comparable figure for each of the previous 18 months.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many of those aged 55 years and over registered as unemployed at Sutton employment exchange had salaries in excess of £2,500 per annum at the end of their last period of employment.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many males and females registered as unemployed at Sutton employment exchange are on the professional register; how many are aged 55 years and over; and what were the comparable figures for each of the previous 18 months.

On 25th July 1973, 49 men and three women registered as unemployed at Sutton employment exchange were also enrolled with the Professional and Executive Recruitment Service; of these, 13 men were aged 55 years or over.

There are no comparable figures available for earlier dates.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many males and females registered as unemployed in Greater London are on the professional register; how many are aged 55 years and over; and what are the comparable figures for each of the previous 18 months.

Mr. Dudley Smith

On 1st May 1973, the latest date for which figures are available, 7,016 men and 1,399 women were registered as unemployed with the London office of professional and executive recruitment. Of these, 758 men and 40 women were aged 55 years or over.
