HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c527W
Mr. John E. B. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science to what extent retired teachers may engage in part-time teaching without suffering any deduction in their pension from the Teachers' Superannuation Scheme.

Mr. St. John-Stevas

No deduction is made unless in any pension quarter the pension (including any pensions increase) and earnings from part-time teaching exceed the teacher's notional salary (that is, the highest salary which would have been payable for that quarter in respect of any pensionable teaching post previously held). If the notional salary is exceeded, the teacher's pension is reduced by the amount of the excess.
