HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c474W
68. Mr. Lipton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how much was spent by the Intervention Board on payments to private storers for withholding stock from the market in the first six months of 1973.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

The only payments in aid of private storage which the Intervention Board has made during the first six months of 1973 were for sugar stocks and totalled £385,541. Such payments axe recovered by levies on sugar manufacturers and do not fall on national or Community funds.
