HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 cc421-2W
36. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will raise with the appropriate authorities the responsibility that now rests on Eastern Germany in view of her forthcoming admission to the United Nations as a recognised sovereign State to make a contribution to those who were the victims of Nazi aggression and for whom West Garmany has already made financial restitution.

Mr. Anthony Royle

We have already raised the general question of compensation with the German Democratic Republic Government. The next step will be talks on a wide area of claims. Each Government will then be entitled to raise any question they want.
