HC Deb 19 July 1973 vol 860 c186W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (1) what percentage of letters are delivered in the second delivery;

(2) how many man-hours per year are occupied in making mail deliveries other than in the first delivery.

Sir J. Eden

The Post Office tells me that about 15 per cent. of letters are delivered on the second delivery, which occupies about 12¼ million man-hours in a year.
