asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will issue a direction to the SSHA to desist from the building of houses in areas where the local authority rental structure is such that SSHA tenants need to enjoy a rent subsidy paid by tenants of similar SSHA properties in localities with more economic rentals in the public sector.

Mr. Younger

The association's main function is to build houses in support of economic expansion and for overspill, and its programme should continue to be designed primarily in accordance with these needs.
