HC Deb 18 July 1973 vol 860 c126W
Mr. James Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations have been made to him about house prices; and how much prices of houses have risen in the last year up until the latest available date.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

I have received some representations about the level, and rate of increase, of house prices.

The following is the latest available information on house prices from the Building Societies' Association's 5 per cent. sample survey:

AVERAGE PRICES OF HOUSES IN SCOTLAND
New Houses £ Existing Houses £ All Houses £
January-December 1971 5,673 5,297 5,406
January-December 1972 6,596 6,071 6,323

The survey's average prices for January to June 1973 are not yet available.
