asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the need to improve the infrastructure of South and East Fife; and when he expects to announce the starting date for the East Fife regional road.

I am keenly aware of the importance of effective infrastructure to the economic development of Fife. We are studying a recent report by Fife County Council which, I hope, will enable me to reach a decision on a starting date for the East Fife regional road.
