HL Deb 17 July 1973 vol 344 cc1132-3WA
LORD HYLTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. i. What is their reaction to the restrictions and limitations recently placed by the Greater London Council on its mortgage loan scheme:
  2. ii. Whether they are aware that young couples setting up homes for the first time are now excluded from Greater London Council loans; and what steps they envisage to make house purchase possible for such couples.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT (BARONESS YOUNG)

The Government are fully aware of the implications of the decision by the Greater London Council to restrict lending for house purchase and my honourable friend the Minister for Housing and Construction is in consultation with the Council to see what can be done.
