§ Mr. Thomas Coxasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the known number of bogus education colleges offering degrees or diplomas operating in the United Kingdom; and how many prosecutions have been taken against these organisations during the last five years.
§ Mrs. ThatcherThere is no certain way of knowing how many of these establishments are operating in the United Kingdom, but it has been suggested that there may be about 30. I understand that the records kept by the Home Office do not reveal how many prosecutions have been taken against these organisations.
