§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what consideration has been given to the payment of disturbance allowance to all ranks of the Royal Ulster Constabulary according to the precedent of the Royal Irish Constabulary in 1921.
§ Mr. van StraubenzeeRUC regulations do not provide for a disturbance allowance as such but they provide for a 383W removal allowance and the payment of expenditure incidental to removal. I understand that the Police Authority for Northern Ireland has developed a scheme whereby policemen who have found it necessary to move their homes to areas considered safer for their families are given financial assistance above the normal removal expenses permitted by regulations.
