HC Deb 14 February 1973 vol 850 cc350-1W
Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is aware that the land at Tyneham, Dorset, which is to be freed from the Ministry of Defence after many years, is an area of beauty; and if he will take steps to make it a conservation area open to the public.

Mr. Graham Page

My right hon. and noble Friend the Secretary of State for Defence has not yet received the report of the Defence Lands Committee under Lord Nugent of Guildford which is reviewing defence land holdings including the Lulworth ranges of which the Tyne-ham land is part, and no decisions have yet been taken. My right hon. and learned Friend is aware that the land is an area scheduled as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
