HC Deb 03 December 1973 vol 865 cc267-8W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will insert the question as to whether it is the applicant's only application into the standard application for a driving test ; and, if it is not the only application, to require a good reason as to why there is a second application.

Mr. Peyton

No.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) whether he will require, on a driving licence application form, a statement as to whether the appli cant is the holder of a full or provisional driving licence ;

(2) what steps he hopes to take to prevent abuse arising out of a waiting list for driving tests.

Mr. Peyton

I would refer the hon. Member to the replies given to similar Questions from the hon. Member for Hackney, Central (Mr. Clinton Davis) on 28th November.—[Vol. 865, c.154.]

Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the waiting time required from the date of application to the date of test of those wishing to take a driving test in Nottinghamshire and in Newark, respectively.

Mr. Peyton

Information in relation to Nottinghamshire is not readily available. In the East Midland Traffic Area the waiting time is 17.4 weeks (average) ; in Newark it is 13 weeks.
